Aerospace industry sales to reach $210.64 billion next year, AIA says

WASHINGTON—U.S. aerospace industry sales will increase to $210.64 billion in 2008, which represents a 6 percent increase over projected 2007 sales of $198.78 billion, according to the year-end forecast of the Aerospace Industries Association (AIA) in Washington.

Total aerospace industry sales includes revenues from civil and military aircraft, missiles, space, and aerospace products and services, according to AIA figures.

Total U.S. aircraft sales will increase to $112.58 billion next year, which is a 4.1 percent increase over projected aircraft sales of $108.16 billion this year, AIA experts say. All figures are in constant dollars.

Civil aircraft sales in 2007 will be $53.31 billion, and will increase by 13.2 percent in 2008 to $60.37 billion, analysts say. Military aircraft sales in 2007 will be $54.85 billion and decrease slightly to $52.21 billion in 2008.

Missile sales in 2007 will be $17.67 billion, and will increase by 5.56 percent to $18.66 billion in 2008. Space sales, meanwhile, will be $39.18 billion in 2007 and increase by 5 percent to 41.17 billion in 2008. Aerospace products and services sales will be $38.24 billion in 2007, and increase by 13.4 percent to $38.236 billion, AIA experts predict.
