Curtiss-Wright Controls Embedded Computing in Cambridge, England, is introducing a rugged, conduction-cooled dual-channel video compression/decompression PMC board called the Orion CC for VME and CompactPCI systems that require distribution and/or storage of video sensor information. The Orion CC features dual on-board JPEG 2000 engines to support full-frame encoding of standard 625-line PAL or 525-line NTSC composite video. In input mode, the card can accept as many as 10 analog video inputs. The card’s compression engine supports full-frame rate encoding of standard PAL or NTSC composite video, outputting a JPEG 2000-compliant data stream onto the PCI bus. In output mode the card receives one or two JPEG 2000 data streams via the 64-bit, 66 MHz PCI bus, decompresses the data streams, and outputs the video signals. Software includes drivers for Windows, Linux, and VxWorks operating systems. A low-level driver and board-support library provides C functions, and provides low-level functions to initialize and control operations.
