Engineers at The Boeing Co. in Chicago needed a pneumatic system for launching weapons from the P-8A Poseidon anti-submarine warfare (ASW) maritime patrol aircraft deployed by the U.S. Navy. They found their solution at Marotta Controls in Montville, N.J.

Marotta Controls will deliver its MPACT 6000 Pure Air Compression Technology systems to Boeing for pneumatic weapon ejection on the P-8A Poseidon. The MPACT pneumatic system, installed on the forward fuselage of the P-8A Poseidon, generates high-pressure, compressed air to jettison weapons from various aircraft.

The P-8A Poseidon, a variant of the Boeing 737-800, is a long-range maritime patrol twin-engine jet for anti-surface warfare, as well as intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance.

Marotta Controls engineers tested the MPACT 6000 prior to delivery to Boeing. The components were analyzed and evaluated while subjected to temperature, vibration, acceleration, altitude, and service life tests. For more information, visit Marotta Controls online at www.marotta.com.
