U.S. Army uses Law Enforcement Associate’s under-vehicle inspection systems in Iraq

March 1, 2008

Officers and other decision makers in the U.S. Army recognized the pressing need for a portable vehicle-inspection system on the battlefield.

They found their solution at Law Enforcement Associates (LEA) Corp., a developer and manufacturer of undercover surveillance equipment in Youngsville, N.C. LEA executives are filling an order for eight of its Smith & Wesson-branded UVIS Swifts, which will be employed by the U.S. Army in Iraq.

LEA’s surveillance equipment is being used to enhance security for both military and civilian personnel in one of the world’s most dangerous settings, acknowledges Paul Feldman, president of LEA.

The Swift, a portable under-vehicle inspection system, captures high-resolution video imagery of an auto’s undercarriage. The units bound for Iraq will be used in explosives detection operations at various military checkpoints.

For additional information, visit Law Enforcement Associates Corp. online at www.leacorp.com.
