Lockheed Martin selects MH-60R radar from Telephonics

July 1, 2008

Officials at Lockheed Martin Systems Integration—Owego in Owego, N.Y., sought a technology partner to deliver radar technologies in support the U.S. Navy’s MH-60R multi-mission helicopters.

They found such a partner in the Radar Systems Division of Telephonics Corp., a developer of communication and radar technologies for military and commercial applications. A wholly owned subsidiary of Griffon Corp., Telephonics is located in Jericho, N.Y.

Lockheed Martin Systems issued a $64.6 million order for AN/APS-147 Multi-Mode Radar (MMR) and Identification Friend or Foe (IFF) Interrogator Systems developed and manufactured for the U.S. Navy’s MH-60R multi-mission helicopters. The AN/APS-147 infuses both the MH-60R and its host ship with littoral and maritime domain awareness.

The contract, part of a previously reported multiyear agreement, covers completion of the contract’s Lot 6 systems, long-lead procurement for Lot 7 production, and several spare components.
