Officers in the Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) and Navy (RMN) recognized the need for locator and emergency identification technologies aboard the organizations’ aircraft.

They turned to Digital Angel’s SARBE (search-and-rescue beacon equipment) division in St. Paul, Minn., for a solution. SARBE division engineers will deliver $2.7 million in emergency identification equipment to the Malaysian Armed Forces. Delivery of all equipment is due by the end of the second quarter of 2009.

Under the contract, Digital Angel’s SARBE segment will supply its high-performance SARBE G2R Personal Locator Beacon (PLB) along with associated spares, support equipment, and training.

The SARBE G2R PLB will be carried by aircrews operating fixed and rotary-wing RMAF and RMN aircraft to summon assistance in emergency situations. This equipment will replace older SARBE equipment that will soon become obsolete due to upgraded search-and-rescue satellite systems. For more, visit Digital Angel online at www.digitalangel.com.
