Malaysian Ministry of Defense orders FLIR Systems’ infrared sensor systems

September 1, 2008

Officials at the Malaysian Ministry of Defense (MOD) required thermal cameras for a surveillance network installed along the Malaysian coastline.

They found the necessary equipment at FLIR Systems in Wilsonville, Ore. FLIR won an order for 12 of its ThermoVision 2000 long-range thermal infrared (IR) imaging sensor systems.

The ThermoVision 2000 is a cooled infrared, thermal imaging camera sensor offering multisensor capabilities at a range of up to 13 miles. The thermal imaging scope features an autofocus option to minimize operator fatigue, and offers plug-and-play compatibility with several video networking systems.

Officials of the Malaysian MOD chose the ThermoVision 2000 forward-looking IR system for its reliability and range performance, even in conditions of smoke and dust, says a FLIR representative.

The systems, to be delivered this summer, will support Malaysia’s counter-insurgency network. For more information, contact FLIR Systems online at www.flir.com.
