December 1, 2009

U.S. Army officials needed an effective electronics solution for explosive detection, illegal drug detection, and other homeland security applications. They found their solution at GE Security Inc.’s Homeland Protection segment in Newark, Calif.

The MobileTrace system employs GE’s trace detection ion trap mobility spectrometry (ITMS) in a portable device. ITMS narcotics and explosives detection has been used in GE Security trace-based products for military bases, border crossings, airport security, and other critical security checkpoints around the world.
