ITT introduces 19-way DIN connector for harsh environments

February 1, 2009

ITT Interconnect Solutions in Santa Ana, Calif., is introducing the 19-way automotive product DIN (APD) circular connector that withstands harsh and wet-area environments in applications such as commercial vehicles and industrial automation. The 19-way connector has a secondary locking mechanism that requires no special contact removal tools to unlock the secondary locking contact insert while in the field; rather, all that is needed is a screwdriver. The connector has 19 contacts, with the option of increasing to 27 contacts by using smaller contact sizes. For applications requiring a larger load capacity, pin count can be reduced by employing higher-power contacts. The connectors boast a plastic circular housing with visual and audible feedback for confirmed correct mating, simple contact locking and unlocking, and secondary locking at the plug and receptacle.
