Parallel to AMD's launch of theAMD Embedded G-Series platform, Kontron announced that it willsupport the accelerated processing units (APUs) on three of the company's small-form-factor (SFF) embedded platforms. The AMD Embedded G-Series integrates energy-efficient processor cores and graphics processing unit (GPU) with support for DirectX 11. The first embedded Kontron product that will feature the AMD Embedded G-Series platform is a COM Express computer-on-module. This launch will be followed by a compact embedded motherboard and an ultra-small, single-board computer. The AMD Embedded G-Series platform incorporates the APU plus a controller-hub designed specifically for the embedded market. As well as a single or dual core 64-bit x86 CPU based on new microarchitecture, the APU integrates a GPU, Universal Video Decoder 3.0, memory, and a PCI Express controller. It supports HDCP (1080p), MPEG-2, HD, and DivX (MPEG-4), DirectX 11, OpenGL 4.0, as well as dual independent displays with DisplayPort, DVI, and HDMI, and LVDS and VGA embedded interfaces at a maximum resolution of 2560 by 1600 pixels.
