CONEC in Garner, N.C., is introducing a water-resistant rugged USB connector for harsh-environment applications. The IP67 USB connectors ensure a continuously secure dust and weatherproof connection, in addition to being sealed for a watertight connection. The interface meets IP67 requirements when a mating connector is inserted or when covered with a secured protective cap. A USB 2.0 plug set is available for the cable side; preassembled patch cords are also available in various IP protection designs and lengths. The USB connector contacts are phosphor bronze and gold-plated. Current ratings are 1.5 amps maximum at 25 degrees Celsius, and operating temperatures from -40 to 85 C. The product line includes panel-mounted receptacles, mating plugs, protective caps, and pre-terminated jumper cables, including jackets suitable for outdoor use.
