EMBEDDED COMPUTING: FPGA-based 6U computer board for digital signal processing introduced by Curtiss-Wright

Curtiss-Wright Controls Defense Solutions in Ashburn, Va., is introducing the CHAMP-FX4 commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) 6U field-programmable gate array (FPGA) engine for demanding applications like radar processing, signals intelligence (SIGINT), ISR, image processing, network processing, and electronic warfare (EW).

The rugged OpenVPX (VITA 65) embedded computing board has triple on-board Xilinx Virtex-7 FPGAs in one chassis slot, and offers processing throughput of more than 100 gigabytes per second for memory bandwidth and backplane I/O bandwidth. The CHAMP-FX4 has three Xilinx Virtex-7 FPGAs in an FFG1761 package, using the -2 speed grade version of the FPGA. Two of the FPGAs serve as I/O FPGAs and are connected to FMC (VITA 57) mezzanine sites as well as to the backplane SERDES. The third Virtex- 7 device is the board's aggregator FPGA and is connected to the backplane expansion plane.
