MCLEAN, Va., - Aireon in McLean, Va., has announced the release of its first Data Dashboard product: Safety Dashboard for data analytics. The Safety Dashboard is aimed at supporting and enhancing the safety assurance programs of air navigation service providers (ANSPs) by pinpointing indicators of the industry's major operational risks.

Aireon says its solution is designed to aid ANSPs in identifying, monitoring, and analyzing key risk indicators in their airspace. This web-based dashboard offers a visual representation of specific risk indicators, facilitating the identification of trends, patterns, and outliers. Customers can also utilize a benchmarking feature to compare their event data with others, supplementing existing safety processes for proactive risk identification and improved monitoring of mitigation effectiveness.

Data for the Safety Dashboard is sourced from Aireon's global space-based Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast (ADS-B) data. Initial metrics integrated into the Safety Dashboard cover Traffic Collision and Avoidance System (TCAS) alerts, risk of runway overruns, and transponder emergency codes.

Aireon is collaborating with current customers, the Civil Air Navigation Services Organization (CANSO), and its ANSP membership to develop and prioritize future metrics for the dashboard. Upcoming metrics will include high-speed rejected take-offs, a collision risk metric based on time to conflict, and an Oceanic Risk metric, expected to be rolled out in the coming months. Future additions will cover additional approach and landing metrics, environmental risks, and collision risks.

"The Safety Dashboard delivers valuable insights for the global ANSP community. Utilizing Aireon's top-tier data, safety professionals can compare their safety performance with others and proactively identify risks before they escalate into accidents and incidents," said Peter Cabooter, Aireon Vice President of Customer Affairs. "It's the first global safety product featuring Aireon's surveillance-quality data and has been tailored with the ANSP in mind."

The Aireon Safety Dashboard is the first installment in a series of operational data dashboards planned by Aireon. Throughout 2024 and 2025, Aireon intends to introduce dashboards focusing on operational and environmental metrics, encompassing vertical and horizontal flight efficiency, fuel burn and emissions, contrails, and flight plan deviations.
