U.S. Air Force selects Emerson power and cooling solutions to support Department of Defense research facility

COLUMBUS, Ohio, 18 March 2007. Emerson Network Power's technology was chosen to power and cool the 11th fastest supercomputer in the world, the U.S. Air Force Research Center's Maui High Performance Computing Center (MHPCC) at the University of Hawaii.

COLUMBUS, Ohio, 18 March 2007. Emerson Network Power's technology was chosen to power and cool the 11th fastest supercomputer in the world, the U.S. Air Force Research Center's Maui High Performance Computing Center (MHPCC) at the University of Hawaii.

MHPCC is located in a remote area of Maui that experiences frequent loss of commercial power and is a challenge to service availability. Emerson is addressing those challenges with 7x24, four-hour emergency response in addition to ongoing preventive maintenance services.

The supercomputer is used for high-priority U.S. Department of Defense research, such as simulating turbulent flows around aircraft and modeling laser beam qualities. T

The system, housed in an 8,000-square-foot data center, will use multiple Emerson power systems to meet its electrical needs, including precision cooling systems, which distribute air through a 36-inch raised floor, deliver precise, reliable control of room temperature, humidity, and air flow.
