MILPITAS, Calif., 11 Jan. 2011. Linear Technology Corp. in Milpitas, Calif., is introducing the LTC2379-18 serial 18-bit, 1.6-megasamples-per-second SAR analog to digital converter for high performance, high-reliability industrial, automotive, and medical applications.

The LTC2379-18 A/D converter operates over temperatures from -40 to 125 degrees Celsius, and achieves 101dB signal-to-noise ratio and -118dB total harmonic distortion while supporting a differential plus-or-minus 5-volt input range.

The LTC2379-18 has a maximum INL of plus-or-minus 2LSB with no missing codes, operates from a 2.5-volt power supply, consumes 18 milliwatts of power, and is available in 3-by-4-millimeter DFN and MSOP-16 packages.

Complementing the LTC2379-18 is the pin- and software-compatible 16-bit, 2-megasamples-per-second LTC2380-16, which achieves a 96dB signal-to-noise ratio and plus-or-minus 0.5LSB maximum INL.
