Comtech Xicom Technology Inc. in Santa Clara, Calif., is introducing the model XTS-50X1-B1 X-BUC compact and lightweight solid-state X-band block up converter (BUC) for high data-rate satellite communications uplinks for commercial and military users ready to take advantage of X-band capacity on XTAR and Wideband Global SATCOM (WGS) satellites.

SANTA CLARA, Calif., 14 Jan. 2011. Comtech Xicom Technology Inc. in Santa Clara, Calif., is introducing the model XTS-50X1-B1 X-BUC compact and lightweight solid-state X-band block up converter (BUC) power electronics for high data-rate satellite communications uplinks for commercial and military users ready to take advantage of X-band capacity on XTAR and Wideband Global SATCOM (WGS) satellites.

High power in a compact package enables systems integrators to offer fast uplinks with rugged, compact, and transportable SATCOM terminals. The X-BUC provides 50 Watts of 1 dB compressed output power in a self-cooled, feed-mountable, package specifically designed to operate in harsh environments.

The SATCOM amplifier provides more than 32 Watts of linear output power as defined for the WGS system, and offers temperature compensation, gain control, harmonic filtering, and an output isolator. It weighs 10.5 pounds and measures 10.58 inches long, 5.68 inches high, and 4.43 inches high.

"This X-BUC is targeted at SATCOM users who need compact and cost transportable solutions that give them options for today's oversubscribed satellite communications bandwidth situation," says Comtech Xicom President John Branscum.
