Getac B300 rugged mobile computer added to Air Force QEB program

IRVINE, Calif., 1 Feb. 2012. The United States Air Force has, for its Quantum Enterprise Buy (QEB) program, selected the Getac B300 rugged notebook computer from Getac, maker of rugged computers for field-based applications, and NCS Technologies, a manufacturer of mission-specific computers and some Getac products under a licensing agreement.

The Air Force Information Technology Commodity Council (AF ITCC), including senior Air Force officials, led the QEB selection process. They evaluated solutions based on: quality, performance, price, and compatibility with strict security requirements; and, they selected the Getac B300 rugged notebook computer.

The Getac B300 rugged notebook, powered by a 2.5-GHz Intel Core i5 processor with Turbo Boost Technology up to 3.2 GHz, features a 1400-NIT QuadraClear display; 100-mW, high-power Wi-Fi; 120-GB, solid-state drive with 128-bit encryption; and a dual-battery configuration that delivers up to 30 hours of battery life.

“Reliability in extreme conditions, especially in remote locations, is the top consideration for everyone using rugged devices, and the Air Force is certainly no exception," says Jim Rimay, president of Getac Inc.

As part of the QEB, NCS will manufacture and provide Getac's B300 rugged notebook computer to the Air Force. The Getac B300 rugged computer will be available through the QEB program through the end of June 2012.
