WARREN, Mich., 23 Oct. 2013. U.S. Army officials are reaching out to industry to encourage membership in the VICTORY standards organization to help develop, validate, and maintain open-systems standards for vetronics on U.S. and allied armored combat vehicles.

Officials of the Army TACOM Life Cycle Management Command (LCMC) in Warren, Mich., are asking interested companies to become members of the VICTORY organization, and attend the next VICTORY technical interchange meeting on 10-12 Dec. 2013 at Aberdeen Proving Ground, Md.

VICTORY is short for Vehicular Integration for Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance/Electronic Warfare (C4ISR/EW) Interoperability.

VICTORY standard specifications are developed for multi-vendor vetronics designs, and the initial set of specifications is being carried out in several Army and Marine Corps systems, as well as by commercial vendors.

VICTORY standard specifications are developed within a standards body process including government and industry members. Leaders of the standards body are encouraging additional government and industry partners.

Industry participation affords the standards body additional expertise, and provides members foreknowledge of emerging specifications and with opportunities to help to shape standards technical development.

VICTORY is recognized as an enabler of the Army Common Operating Environment (COE). The primary Army program executive offices (PEOs) responsible for ground vehicles and mission equipment have issued policies requiring the use of VICTORY standards. The VICTORY organization, begun in 2010, has produced architectural descriptions, standard specifications, reusable software and compliance verification tools.

The VICTORY focuses on vetronics standards that relate to intelligence systems, simulation, testing, training, logistics, equipment interfaces, and other areas. Members include DRS Technologies, General Electric, Curtiss-Wright Controls, Northrop Grumman, General Dynamics, Raytheon, Green Hills Software, Wind River Systems, SAIC, Themis Computer, and TE Connectivity.

At the December VICTORY meeting the group will focus on brining new industry partners into the organization, and begin signals intelligence (SIGINT) and testing/training subgroups. The VICTORY organization's public Website is at http://victory-standards.org.
