ASHDOD, Israel, 24 June 2013. IAI ELTA Systems Ltd. in Ashdod, Israel is unveiling an integrated electronic support measure/electronic intelligence (ESM/ELINT) capability for its ELM-2060 synthetic aperture radar (SAR) reconnaissance pod.

The ELM-2060 radar reconnaissance system delivers all-weather, stand-off SAR strip or spot imagery, with an option of ground moving target indication (GMTI) overlay. The imagery is moves in real-time to a ground exploitation station, such as ELTA's ELS-8994 real-time image intelligence center (RICENT).

The system is installed in a centerline pod of jet fighters. Elta engineers added the ELM-2060's ESM/ELINT capability in the pod through advances in hardware miniaturization which allowed for the addition of systems in the current pod configuration, Elta officials say.

Based on ELTA's ELK-8385 interferometric ESM/ELINT system, the integrated dual-use pod, designated ELI-2060E, can deliver radar imagery with ELINT target overlay.

This capability enables the operator to collect enhanced multi-intelligence (multi-INT) data during one reconnaissance flight leg, increasing the probability of detection of ground targets and providing enhanced identification capabilities.

Real-time exploitation and uplinked mission updates improve intelligence collection efficiency by focusing the imaging at the real-time areas of interest, Elta officials say.
