EL SEGUNDO, Calif., 19 Oct. 2013. International Rectifier (IR; NYSE:IRF), a provider of power-management technology, has introduced the LSO Series of radiation-hardened (rad-hard) low-voltage, single- and dual-output DC-DC converter modules for satellite power systems requiring up to 15 years or more of mission life.

The LSO Series, delivering isolated output voltages from 1.5 volts to 15 volts with typical efficiency performance up to 81 percent, features a MIL-STD-461C CE03-compliant internal EMI (electromechanical interference) filter. The new 30-watt modules offer such functional features as latch-off output over-voltage protection (OVP) to help prevent damage to high-value digital and analog loads as a result of an over-voltage condition. An adjustable OVP threshold voltage, input current telemetry, and under-voltage lockout (UVLO) with latching mode options are also included.

“The LSO Series of low-voltage, RAD-Hard DC-DC converters are intended for a wide range of digital and analog satellite power system designs. With built-in OV protection and input current telemetry circuitry, these converter modules help simplify system redundancy design, improve system reliability and reduce overall program costs,” explains Tiva Bussarakons, marketing director, IR’s HiRel Business Unit.

The converters, available in a 3.5 x 2.5 x 0.475-inch standard form factor with a low weight of < 125 grams, are characterized with total ionizing dose (TID) of greater than 100K Rad(Si), and single event effect (SEE) linear energy transfer (LET) of heavy ions greater than 82 MeV.cm2 /mg.

Additional features include 18 volt to 40 volt input range, magnetically coupled feedback to insure optimum cross-regulation when the loads are unbalanced, remote sense compensation for single output models, and adjustable output voltage.

Pricing begins at $10,400 (U.S.) each in 100-unit quantities. Production orders are available immediately. Prices are subject to change. This product is subject to U.S. export control laws and regulations.
