HAUPPAUGE, N.Y., 22 March 2014. Behlman Electronics Inc., provider of power products for military, industrial, and commercial applications, won a follow-on order for its commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) DMCA4000 power supply for use aboard the U.S. Air Force RC-135 Rivet Joint all-weather surveillance aircraft.

Air Force RC-135V/W Rivet Joint aircraft, which have been used widely for more than two decades, are equipped with an array of sophisticated electronic equipment that need rugged, high-performance, extremely reliable power supplies, a spokesperson explains.

“Several years ago, we modified one of our standard COTS power supplies -- which was known for having extreme reliability in many industrial applications-- and created the unique Model 94057, DCMA4000 version to meet the special requirements of the RC-135 Rivet Joint aircraft,” Behlman President Ron Storm says. “We are pleased, but not surprised, that such a robust design has stood the test of time and continues to be relied on by the U.S. Air Force to support its critical missions.”

Behlman’s DMCA4000 COTS power supplies are rugged, reliable 4,000-watt switch mode units built for high-end industrial and military airborne, shipboard, and land-mobile applications. For airborne applications they are powered from three-phase AC aircraft power and provide outputs at +3.3 VDC, +5 VDC, + 12 VDC, -12 VDC, and -28 VDC. These ultra-sturdy power supplies are built to endure the rigors of mission-critical applications, and are designed to meet the input power requirements of MIL-STD-704. At 4.5 H x 16 W x 21.5 D inches and weighing only 33.5 pounds, these rack-mounted power supplies readily accommodate the tight quarters typically found in military applications.

Behlman Electronics Inc. is a subsidiary of Orbit International Corp., and the basis of the Orbit Power Group.
