WIXOM, Mich., 8 Sept. 2014. Acromag in Wixom, Mich., is introducing the VPX4820 and VPX4821 Navy submarine carrier cards for high-performance industrial, defense, scientific research, and telephony systems that must interface a PCI Mezzanine Card (PMC) or Express Mezzanine Card (XMC) to a VPX embedded computing system.

The VPX4820 and VPX4821 have two PMC or XMC slots with support for front or rear panel I/O and delivers 25 Watts of power to each site. The cards connect to the OpenVPX data plane via the expansion plane.

These carrier cards route power and interface bus signals to a plug-in mezzanine module through the VPX card slot connector. The XMC site uses 8-lane PCI Express bus Gen 2 interface to enable rapid data throughput.

The PMC site uses 32/64-bit, 33/66/133 MHz PLX technology with a PCI Express to PCI-eXtended bridge. Air-cooled version operate in temperatures from 0 to 70 degrees Celsius. Conduction-cooled and REDI models also are available.

The carrier card conforms to VPX VITA 46.0, 46.4 and 46.9 specifications and optionally VITA 48 for ruggedized enhanced design implementation (REDI). It also is compatible with several VITA 65 OpenVPX module/slot profiles. 64 I/O lines (P14, VITA 46.9) are supported via the P2 VPX connector. Front and rear-panel I/O access can be accommodated.
