MISSION VIEJO, Calif., 17 June 2015. Holt Integrated Circuits in Mission Viejo, Calif., is introducing the HI-2130 low-profile MIL-STD-1553 integrated terminal for military and commercial avionics applications. The device contains MIL-STD-1553 protocol logic, dual transceivers, and dual transformers in a low-profile compact package.

The HI-2130 die is hermetically sealed on a ceramic ball grid array substrate and dual transformers are mounted in the same package. The ceramic substrate allows extended temperature operation from -55 to 125 degrees Celsius with no heat sink and no duty cycle or bus load constraints.

The HI-2130 gives the user a choice of 16-bit parallel bus or SPI host interface in one package. In addition, the HI-2130 provides integrated transformers in a low profile and small footprint.

Each device contains a bus controller, a bus monitor terminal, and two independent remote terminals. Any combination of the contained MIL STD-1553 functions can be enabled for concurrent operation.

The enabled terminals communicate with the MIL-STD-1553 buses through dual bus transceivers and transformers. The user allocates 64K bytes of on-chip static RAM between terminals to suit application requirements. The 32K-by-16-bit RAM has an error detection and correction option.

The HI-2130 also can be configured for automatic self-initialization via a dedicated SPI port from an external serial EEPROM memory. For more information contact Holt Integrated Circuits online at www.holtic.com.
