CONCORD, Calif., 2 July 2015. Calex Mfg. Co. Inc. in Concord, Calif., is introducing the "-T" option on the 500-Watt MXW and 360-Watt MTW series power converters for extended-temperature military and aerospace applications.

The "-T" power electronics option allows for extended-temperature operation of the converters from -55 to 105 degrees Celsius including cold start at -55 C. This option makes both series for military and aerospace and hi-rel applications requiring extended temperature operation.

The MXW and MTW have an ultra-wide 9-36-volt DC input range accommodating a variety of power sources from 12 to 24 to 28 volts nominal. Output voltages available for both series are 12, 15, 24, and 28 volts DC.

All models are isolated input to output. Each series offers efficiency, to 95.7 percent, and high power density through synchronous rectification, advanced circuit, packaging and thermal design. Both series operate at a fixed frequency and follow conservative derating guidelines.

The package size of the MXW and MTW DC-DC series is 2.4 by 2.5 by 0.52 inches, and all models have ON/OFF with a low idle current of 2 milliamps as well as Trim. The Trim range is +/-10 percent.

The switching frequency of both DC-DC series is 200 kHz. Output voltage accuracy is +/-1.5 percent.
