Missile Defense Agency looks to IDT to provide test equipment for ballistic missile defense

HUNTSVILLE, Ala., 7 July 2015. U.S. missile-defense test equipment experts are looking to Innovative Defense Technologies LLC (IDT) in Arlington, Va., for a new and innovative approach for automated testing, data analysis, and requirements verification for ballistic missile defense systems.

Officials of the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) in Huntsville, Ala., have announced a $10 million contract to IDT to develop and implement the Automated Test and Re-Test (ATRT) tool. IDT will use the ATRT test equipment to apply automation to the integration and test of software based systems.

The ATRT Phase III development work will leverage current ATRT capability and the initial technology developed under small business innovative research (SBIR) phase-one and baseline phase-two programs.

The ATRT: Test Manager is a U.S. Department of Defense-approved, integrated, automated software testing capability designed to support the testing of heterogeneous, multi-computer, complex systems. It can be applied across the entire software testing life cycle and result in broader testing coverage, increased efficiency and improved quality, company officials say.

It provides graphical user interface (GUI) automation and message-based interface testing capability for several different protocols like TCP/IP, UDP, and Multicast. It provides a central repository for testing artifacts from test case development to requirements traceability to reporting test case results.

The ATRT: Test Manager uses a model-based, scriptless approach to testing that is non-intrusive to the system under test, and can support a broad range of testing, including: functional, regression, interface, concurrency, endurance, and performance testing.
