Space Electronics board used for STRV flight

Officials at the Defense Electronics Research Agency in the United Kingdom, are using the SPARC Microprocessor Experiment board from Space Electronics, a division of Maxwell Technologies in San Diego, for use in their Space Technology Research Vehicles (STRV) project at the end of this year.

STRV is a joint United States/United Kingdom experimental aircraft program designed to demonstrate new technologies and gain flight experience.

"Delivery of this new single-board computer introduces a standard product for the international space market including the flight heritage on STRV," says David J. Strobel, chief technology officer at Space Electronics.

Other potential applications include low-Earth orbit and geosynchronous-earth orbit platforms, natural space agency scientific satellites, military spacecraft, and booster electronics.
