Boeing integrates next-generation displays
I enjoyed your article “Display technology leaps to the next generation,” (October 2004, p. 28). Here at Boeing in St. Louis, we just finished integrating a 14.1-inch LCD into our F/A-18E/F fighter. It goes into production next year. We are also evaluating and testing OLEDs. We will be working with an OLED manufacturer to document performance, optically and environmentally, to help them improve their products. What we have found out at Boeing is that automotive requirements are very similar to avionics requirements. We all know that the display industry is very interested in displays in automobiles. That helps us get their attention.
