Fixed-carbon-composition resistor

Leaders of KOA Speer Electronics in Bradford, Pa., are offering fixed-carbon-composition resistors. The noninductive and low-capacitance RC1/4 and RC1/2 resistors can withstand larger short-term pulses, higher voltages, and are impervious to ESD events. A wide resistance range is available in both models, from 1 to 22 ohm, tolerance available are ±5 percent at 0.25 volts and ±10 percent at 0.05 volts, with stability class of 10 percent. Applications for the resistors include protection from high voltage surges as well as RFI suppression. The units are designed for the audio, video and telecommunications industries. Miniature 40/60-watt power supply

The leaders of Astrodyne Corp. in Taunton, Mass., are releasing their miniature 40/60-watt open-frame switching power supplies. The OFM 40/60 has features universal input of 85 to 265 volts AC, with single outputs from 3.3 to 48 volts DC. Additionally, the 40/60 series has an integral power-good LED indicator and output adjustment potentiometer. Three-phase and neutral EMC filter

Officials from Radius Power Inc. in Orange, Calif., are introducing their three-phase and neutral EMC filter, the RP400. The medical and industrial power-line filter series has a universal input up to 480 volts AC and is rated to 300 amps. Additionally, the RP400 uses decreased levels of heavy potting compounds, which gives the unit equal or better thermal characteristics, comparable shock and vibration specifications, and 30 to 50 percent reduction in weight. The filter is available in 11 models ranging from 15 to 300 amps/phase. Each filter is C-US and EN approved for input voltages up to 480 volts AC. Surface-mount power magnetic devices

The leaders of CoEv Magnetics, a unit of Tyco Electronics, in Menlo Park, Calif., are unveiling an SMT series of power-magnetic devices. The line of surface-mount inductors and chokes can be used to suppress and filter AC ripple current in the DC output circuit. The devices have toroidal cores in a surface-mount package. Replacement lockout relay

The leaders of Electroswitch in Weymouth, Mass., are releasing a lock-out relay (LOR) that can replace the worn relays made by Westinghouse and GE. The series 24 LORs have a built-in coil monitoring and fault signal detection/indication and feature manual-, electric-, and self-rest capability. Some models have as many as 10 decks in a single relay, which provide up to 40 independent contacts, with 2 N/O and 2 N/C contacts per deck. The contacts are rated at 60 amps for one minute and 30 amps for continuous current at a range of 125-250 volts DC or 120-600 volts AC. High density DC-DC converter

The leaders of Astrodyne Corp. in Taunton, Mass., are releasing their HB Series DC-DC converter that offers 75 to 200 watts output power. The converters are available in single, dual and triple outputs from 1.5 to 12 volts DC, with wide output ranges of 18–36 and 36–75 volts DC. The model provides remote sensing, optional negative trim, positive enable functions and a mounting plate. Compact microswitch

Officials from EHM Technology in Las Vegas are introducing a line of snap-action microswitches for motor controls, locking mechanisms, or any other devices that requires a compact higher current. Motor-line feed-thru technology EMI filter

Officials from Spectrum Control in Fairview, Pa., are introducing a motor-line feed-through-technology EMI filter that can be designed into mechanical packages for an easy retrofit. The filters are engineered to replace the need for multiple capacitors, inductive coils, leads as well as PCB assemblies. Even though the filters were designed for automotive applications, they can be used with other applications including communication equipment, industrial process controls, medical equipment, military equipment, and wireless devices. PolySwitch to prevent damage to control boards

Officials of Raychem Circuit Protection, a unit of Tyco Electronics, in Menlo Park, Calif., are introducing the LVR series of PolySwitch. The devices are rated at 240 volts AC with a maximum voltage up to 465 volts ACV, with a low resistance the devices can be used in line voltage applications. The device aids in the protection against conditions where faults may cause a rise in temperature with a minimal increase in current draw. The LVR can be mounted in direct contact with the transformer windings allowing for a faster response to potential faulty conditions. Low profile switching power supplies

Officials of HiTek Power in Santee, Calif., are offering their high output, current pulse capability TEK 150 series AC/DC power supply for thermal printing, telecommunications, test and industrial equipment. The unit can be operated at up to 100 watts without fan cooling or up to 150 watts with forced cooling of 16 cubic feet per minute. The series has four models, which offer output voltage rating of 5–6, 12–16, 24–30 and 48–56 volts. Input voltage is 90 to 132/180 to 264-volts AC autoselectable at a frequency of 47–63 Hz. Electronic Concepts adds to its Minifilm line

Leaders of Electronic Concepts Inc. in Eatontown, N. J., are offering a series of film capacitors with capacitance up to 1.0 µF. Performance characteristics of the Minifilm Monolithic polymer film capacitor, include: capacitance tolerance of 5, 10, and 20 percent, and withstand solder reflow to 230°C, dielectric strength of 150 percent of rated voltage, and has a voltage rating of 20-volts DC, with a continuous operating temperature of –40°C to +85°C. Customers can order the unit as a surface mount configuration of with radial leads. The unit measures 0.195 × 0.195 × 0.095 mm and is encapsulated to protect it from the environment. 150-volt rectifiers

The officials from Vishay Intertechnology Inc. in Malvern, Pa., are introducing a series of 150-V high-barrier-height rectifiers that can be used in high-frequency inverters, freewheeling, SMPS, and polarity-protection applications in power supplies and adapters. The rectifier features a low-forward-voltage drop typically at 0.65 volts and an average leakage current as low as 0.15 mA at 125°C, with a maximum operating junction temperature of 175°C. Ultraminiature power supply

The units meet the space needs and requirements of the medical and dental instruments and systems. All models accept universal inputs of 85- to 265-volts AC, and a majority of the models provide single and dual outputs of 3.3- to 24-volts DC. The units come standard with an integral power-good LED indicator and output adjustment potentiometer. The OFM/M series meets UL2601 and EN60601-1 medical safety specifications. Power converter for marine communication equipment

The leaders of Analytic Systems in Surrey, B.C., Canada, are releasing a fully isolated precision converter. The VTC315 DC-DC voltage converter accepts input voltages of 24, 32, and 48 volts and creates between 12-volts and 32-volts or 48-volts DC at up to 300 watts of continuous power for electronics used in marine environments. The units lightweight, rugged deign uses an anodized aluminum chassis and stainless steel fasteners. Standard equipment includes a dry contact relay to interface to alarm monitoring systems.
