TEK Microsystems Inc. in Chelmsford, Mass., and QinetiQ of Malvern, England, are offering the Quixilica Neptune 2 VXS card for high-speed streaming analog-to-digital applications. The 6U VME card combines an ultrahigh sample rate with as much as 10-bit resolution and multichannel synchronization to single-sample resolution, an improvement of 16 times over existing technologies, company officials say. Applications for the card include adaptive radar beam-forming, synthetic aperture radar, signals intelligence, and electronic warfare. Neptune 2 combines high signal bandwidth with integrated onboard field-programmable-gate-array (FPGA) processing. Using A-D converters from Atmel improves performance in signal environments where jamming or high levels of interference may occur. Enhanced channel-to-channel synchronization between several Neptune 2 cards supports applications that require as many as 32 channels coherent to within one sample.
