M-Systems Inc. in Sunnyvale, Calif., is offering the FFD 2.5-inch Ultra ATA flash disk drive in capacities as large as 1 to 16 gigabytes in 9.5-millimeter case height. The M-Systems FFD 2.5-inch drive provides the functionality of a high-capacity UATA hard disk drive for military and aerospace applications, as well as for laptops, data recorders, blade servers, and telecommunications, company officials say. The M-Systems flash disk offers capacities in 2.5-inch form factor as large as 128 gigabytes, as well as high endurance in a flash disk with more than 5 million write/erase cycles, burst performance of 100 megabytes per second, and sustained performance of 45 megabytes per second. The device meets standards such as NEBS level 3 and MIL-STD-810F, and offers Fast Security Erase that meet sanitizing standards of the U.S. Department of Defense (DOD 5220.22-M), National Security Agency (NSA 130-2), U.S. Air Force (AFSSI 5020), U.S. Army (380-19) and the U.S. Navy (Navso 5239).
