Engineers at Boeing needed cockpit displays for the KC-10 refueling tanker, as part of the Royal Netherlands Air Force (RNLAF) cockpit upgrade program.
They found a solution with Innovative Solutions & Support Inc. in Exton, Pa. Under a $900,000 order from Boeing’s Wichita Development and Modification Center in Wichita, Kan., ISS will deliver its Primary Flight Display System.
The system provides highly readable, large-format (15-inch) flat-panel displays, in flexible graphical formats, for upgrading air transport, military and business aviation aircraft.
Boeing technicians will use it to upgrade the KC-10 display system, which includes two 15-inch flat-panel display units located on the pilot and co-pilot forward instrument panels and display-generation capability in two data concentrator units and two control panels.
“This selection by the Boeing Company for the RNLAF program provides another example of the growing use of IS&S display products for military, commercial air transport, and business aviation applications,” said Roman Ptakowski, president of ISS. “The product’s exceptional performance, light weight, low power and low cost make it ideal for retrofit upgrades.”
ISS designs flight information computers, electronic displays and advanced monitoring systems that measure and display critical flight information, including data relative to aircraft separation (RVSM), airspeed and altitude, as well as engine and fuel data measurements.
