Photonic Products Ltd. in Hatfield Broad Oak, England, is adding Panasonic’s range of aspherical glass lenses to its portfolio of optoelectronic components, which also includes plastic lenses, laser line generators, laser diode collimators, and laser diode modules. The lightweight lens from Panasonic’s “one-shot” molding method yields a short focal length and high numerical aperture based on aspherical designs, Photonic Products officials say. Potential applications of these lenses include pickup lenses for optical drive devices, collimator lenses for laser diodes, coupling lenses for optical communications systems, and image-formation lenses for sensors.
