Vicor Corp. in Andover, Mass., is offering the VI-HAM high-boost harmonic attenuator module. The device is a universal AC input, PFC front-end module optimized for use with the VICOR V375-series DC-DC converters. One VI-HAM can accompany any combination of V375 DC-DC converters in quarter-, half-, and full-brick packages at as much as 600 Watts, resulting in a power system with twice the power density, fewer components, and lower cost than previous VI-HAM-based solutions, company officials say. Parallelable versions are available for applications that require more than 600 Watts of output power. The VI-HAM has a full-wave rectifier, proprietary high-frequency, zero-current switching boost converter, and includes active inrush current limiting, over-temperature and short-circuit protection.
