Mercury Computer Systems Inc. in Chelmsford, Mass., is offering the conduction-cooled 800-MHz 7447 6U VME multicomputer for applications in extreme environmental conditions. The multicomputer can scale up to as many as 72 PowerPC 7447A compute nodes connected on the Mercury RACE++ communications fabric, for a total of 460 billion floating point operations per second (gigaFLOPs). Each module has an MCJ6 motherboard with one or two daughter cards. The board also accepts high-speed front-panel data port (FPDP) I/O daughter cards.
