M-Systems Inc. in Sunnyvale, Calif., is offering a fast flash disk (FFD) 2.5-inch ultra-advanced technology attachment (ATA) in capacities from 1 to 16 gigabytes in 9.5-millimeter case heights. The drive provides the functionality of a high-capacity UATA hard disk drive, and is for laptops, data recorders, blade servers, telecommunications, and military and aerospace applications. The drive can withstand more than 5 million write/erase cycles, burst performance of 100 megabytes per second, and sustained performance of 45 megabytes per second, compliancy with strict reliability standards such as NEBS level 3 and MIL-STD-810F and top security with features such as fast security erase that meet sanitizing standards of the U.S. Department of Defense, National Security Agency, Air Force, Army, and Navy.
