The Telephonics Secure Digital Intercommunication system, which is currently deployed on over 30 platforms for U.S. and international military applications, will provide secure communications for the 12 crewmembers on the P-3 aircraft. The small, lightweight and highly reliable digital system will replace obsolete AIC-22 equipment

Work on this program will be performed at the Telephonics facilities in Farmingdale, N.Y. and at Patuxent River Naval Air Station. Md.

A subsidiary of Griffon Corp., Telephonics is organized into three parts: two operating divisions include Communications Systems, specializing in aircraft intercommunications, mass transit communications, wireless and audio products; and Command Systems, specializing in traffic management systems, maritime surveillance radar and aerospace electronics. The third part is a wholly owned subsidiary, TLSI, which manufactures application-specific integrated circuits (ASIC) for the telecommunications, automotive and industrial security markets.
