TECOM Industries Inc. in Thousand Oaks, Calif., is offering a new embedded antenna for RF identification (RFID) readers. Called the EARR, which is short for embedded antenna for RFID readers, the 3-by-3.25-by-0.426-inch device has a directional gain of 6 dBil that delivers extended read distance and long battery life. Three version of the TECOM EARR are available: the 001 for North America that covers the 902 to 928 MHz band; 002 for Europe that covers 865 to 870 MHz; and 003 for Japan that covers 950 to 960 MHz.
