Försvarets Materielverk (FMV) of Sweden required a precision radar and landing solution for a radar destined for the Swedish Armed Forces.

FMV turned to ITT Corp. of White Plains, N.Y., awarding the company a contract worth $5 million to supply a transportable GCA-2000 state-of-the-art air traffic control (ATC) radar.

The GCA-2000 combines surveillance radar, for controlling arriving and departing aircraft in the area around the airport, with precision-approach radar for guiding aircraft to safe landings in extreme physical environments.

The ITT family of ATC solid-state radars is available in fixed, transportable, and mobile versions for military and civil applications. ITT provides air defense, surveillance, multifunction, and air-traffic-control radar systems for U.S. and international land and maritime applications. For more information, visit www.itt.com.
