Officials of MEN Micro in Lago Vista, Texas, and Sysgo AG of Mainz, Germany, are joining hands to port the Linux operating system for PowerPC embedded processors for industrial-grade applications. Sysgo’s ELinOS version 4.0, a Linux operating system, has been integrated with a board-support package for MEN’s EM1 and EM1A embedded systems modules based on the PowerPC MPC5200. With integrated Linux support and the MPC5200, MEN’s two embedded modules are for mobile systems such as automotive, rail cards, and other transportation applications.
