Engineers with the U.S. Air Force needed infrared sensors for an upgrade on the HC-130. They found a solution with MTC Technologies Inc. in Dayton, Ohio.

MTC will perform modifications, system integrations/enhancements, and testing for the AN/AAQ-36 infrared detection set (IDS) system on HC-130(H)N and HC-130N/P turboprop aircraft.

The work is described in a $4.8 million contract from the Warner Robins Air Logistics Center, 330th Air Sustainment Wing, Special Operations Forces Combat Search and Rescue (CSAR) Group, at Robins Air Force Base, Ga.

MTC will upgrade the video distribution converter (VDC) and complete video display unit (VDU) integration on both aircraft, and complete the integration of the AN/APN-241 low-power color radar (LPCR) display control panel on the HC-130N/P aircraft.

“These aircraft are used for combat search and rescue and play a vital role in maintaining the safety of our troops,” says David Gutridge, MTC’s chief executive officer. “We are proud to be contributing to their capabilities, and especially pleased that MTI will play a major role in the development and production of the VDC upgrade, which will enhance CSAR operational capabilities.”

MTC’s Air Forces Group, System Support Division, Warner Robins Operations, based in Georgia, will manage all of the work. For more information, see www.mtctechnologies.com.
