Designers at Atlantis Systems Corp. in Toronto needed a server for the helicopter trainer built for flight simulators ranging from the Westland EH-101 to the Bell 206 helicopters. They found a solution with the ImaGen visual server from Concurrent in Duluth, Ga.

Atlantis will use the server in the company’s Helicopter Vocational Trainer (HVT), a reconfigurable program that can address any vertical-flight, from helicopters to the V-22 tiltrotor, and even the vertical- and short-takeoff version of the Lockheed Martin F-35 Joint Strike Fighter.

“We needed a powerful, consistent and reliable image generator that would also be easy to deploy,” says Walter Volk, HVT program manager for Atlantis Systems. “In Concurrent’s ImaGen servers, we found a solution that meets the demanding requirements of a reconfigurable training product, at an excellent value as well. We see the ImaGen as a new integral demonstration tool that showcases our effective, cost-efficient technology.”

Atlantis will purchase three ImaGen visual servers with dual PCI-Express graphics cards and a genlock/framelock option to synchronize video output. In addition to simulation visual display, Atlantis will use the ImaGen platform for internal research and development, and for demonstration purposes to support sales and marketing of flight simulators.

Concurrent ImaGen visual servers provide multiple channels of visualization and graphics performance for simulation and modeling applications requiring enhanced realism and data processing. Typical applications include civil and military simulation, mission planning, homeland security, scientific and medical visualization, architectural design, energy exploration, and entertainment.
