Lockheed Martin incorporates ICS Sensor Processing equipment in COTS-based solution

When engineers at Lockheed Martin’s Undersea Systems business in Syracuse, N.Y., began developing a solution for an international customer, they turned to Radstone Embedded Computing’s ICS Sensor Processing in Ottawa for embedded computer products.

When engineers at Lockheed Martin’s Undersea Systems business in Syracuse, N.Y., began developing a solution for an international customer, they turned to Radstone Embedded Computing’s ICS Sensor Processing in Ottawa for embedded computer products.

Lockheed Martin experts in developing a COTS-based system required digital signal processors capable of performing in harsh environments. Radstone Embedded Computing proved the optimal choice. The company specializes in embedded computer products that are based on commercial technologies, but which are designed specifically for use by defense and aerospace contractors.

Lockheed Martin issued an order, valued at more than $1.3 million, for five of ICS Sensor Processing’s boards: the ICS-110GB 32-cgabbekm 24-bit sigma-delta ADC board; the ICS-115, a 32-channel, 16-bit delta-sigma DAC board; the ICS-7220 Versatile I/O Interface card; the ICS-500A-T8 FPDP buffer/interface PMC module; and the ICS-7230 FPDP and synchronization buffer card.

This Lockheed Martin Undersea Systems project involved not only a higher channel count, but also a more demanding data-merging requirement than ever before encountered in the company’s history, says an ICS Sensor Processing representative. ICS anticipates receipt of additional orders, for up to eight more systems, over the next decade or more.
