Lockheed Martin turns to Parvus to power F/A-22 Raptor CNI system

Lockheed Martin Aeronautics of Fort Worth, Texas, sought a power-management solution for the communications, navigation, and identification (CNI) system of the F/A-22 Raptor jet fighter.

The company commissioned the help of Parvus Corp. in Salt Lake City, which will develop and manufacture a new electronics power-management module for the military aircraft. According to the $1.4 million contract, Parvus is to deliver prototypes later this year, and follow with initial production units ready for operation.

The Parvus-designed subsystem for the F/A-22 Raptor CNI system is to provide redundant and fail-safe power to encryption/decryption equipment. Parvus experts also are developing the new module with the goals of reducing maintenance requirements and increasing mission readiness.

Upon successful completion of this initial contract, Parvus officials anticipate supplying power-management modules for all existing and future F/A-22 Raptor aircraft through follow-on orders.
