The U.S. Army was charged with modernizing the network communications system at Fort Belvoir in Virginia. It elicited the help of Cornet Technology Communications (CTC) in Springfield, Va., the network communications solutions division of Cornet Technology Inc.

The Army issued a $1.5 million order for CTC’s Tech Control Switching Systems and Cross Connect Multiplexer, marking the division’s fourth project for the project manager defense communications and Army transmission systems (PM DCATS). PM DCATS supports the World Wide Technical Control Improvement Program (WWTCIP).

The MTX-256 Tech Control Switching System will update Fort Belvoir’s tech control center through the delivery of automated network infrastructure management. CTC’s system automates switching and record-keeping processes, reducing the resources necessary for communications testing.

CTC’s Sonux 300 Cross Connect Multiplexer similarly reduces cost and space requirements through its combination of multiple T1, DS1, and DS3 lines into a single high-speed OC3 or OC-48 line. The Sonux 300 system brings digital cross-connect switching capabilities to Fort Belvoir.
