The U.S. aerospace industry deliveries are expected to surpass $184 billion this year-up more than 8 percent from last year’s $170 billion, according to experts at analyst Research and Markets in Dublin, Ireland.

At the same time, the U.S. aerospace industry remains in major trade surplus primarily due to flat imports and rising exports. Research and Markets makes this announcement in a new report entitled “U.S. Aerospace Industry Analysis.”

The United States has been the world’s largest producer and marketplace in aerospace and aviation since the early 20th century.

Shipments of civil aircraft in number and value increased rapidly in 2006, whereas shipments of military aircraft remained almost flat, analysts say. Meanwhile, China, India, and Brazil will remain the potential importing destination for export-intensive aerospace industry of the U.S.

Declining funding, losing technical talent, and an efficiency gap, as compared to other major global aerospace markets, remain major concern factors for the U.S. aerospace industry.

Liberalization and privatization have led to massive consolidation and restructuring of global aerospace industry. The role of suppliers has been shifting in accordance with customers’ needs, analysts say.

The new Research and Markets report also lays out U.S. aerospace opportunities globally; provides a detailed analysis of U.S. aerospace; answers why aerospace is important for U.S. economy; and identifies key drivers and challenges for the U.S. aerospace industry.

The report also provides an overview of the key facts of key players in U.S. aerospace such as Boeing, United Technologies Corp., Lockheed Martin Corp., Northrop Grumman Corp., Honeywell International, and Raytheon Co.
