GE Fanuc Embedded Systems in Charlottesville, Va., announced the IMPCC2 3U CompactPCI single-board computer (SBC) and Multifunction PMC Carrier Card for defense and aerospace applications that are constrained by space, weight, and power. Available in five air- and conduction-cooled ruggedization levels, the IMPCC2 has an SBC power dissipation of five watts. It can be used in a range of applications from a self-contained single-slot embedded computer to a “dumb” carrier card with add-on I/O functionality. “The IMPCC2 is an extremely versatile product, offering a broad range of capabilities that can allow the development of complete 3U systems with the minimum number of slots,” says Richard Kirk, product manager at GE Fanuc Embedded Systems. Featuring two 10/100 BaseT Ethernet ports, two USB 2.0 ports, four high-speed serial channels, optional VGA video, and as much as 2 gigabytes of solid-state (Flash memory module) storage, the IMPCC2 can be optionally configured as a stand-alone or peripheral PowerPC processor using the embedded 266 MHz 603e core in its PowerQUICC (8270) communications processor.
