Lockheed Martin technologies to speed naval decision making

SAN DIEGO—Lockheed Martin engineers in Bethesda, Md., are developing network-centric, data-distribution and -visualization technologies to speed decision making at the U.S. Navy’s Maritime Headquarters with Maritime Operations Center (MOC) in San Diego.

SAN DIEGO—Lockheed Martin engineers in Bethesda, Md., are developing network-centric, data-distribution and -visualization technologies to speed decision making at the U.S. Navy’s Maritime Headquarters with Maritime Operations Center (MOC) in San Diego.

Lockheed Martin engineers, serving as part of a government-led team, won a three-year contract worth roughly $12 million from the Office of Naval Research to deliver technologies in support of global Maritime Operations Centers.

“As an expert in enterprise data fusion and SOA technologies, we can provide the Navy with the ability to collect, filter, and share operational data in real time,” says Elton Schroeder, vice president of C4ISR Systems for Lockheed Martin’s Mission & Combat Support Solutions in Valley Forge, Pa. “In short, we can provide them with a widely available, accurate operational picture, when they need it, where they need it.”

Under the contract, Lockheed Martin engineers will develop a dynamic data layer, adaptive collaboration assistants, and role-relevant visualization services within a service-oriented architecture, says a representative. These technologies combine to help with networked data sharing, enabling data access, sharing, and collaboration across all instances of the MOC.
