Kontron AG in Eching, Germany, is introducing embedded PC computer modules called ETXexpress-PC COM Express with low-power 45-nanometer Intel Core 2 Duo microprocessor SP9300 and Intel GS45 chipset for data processing, as well as multimedia conversion and output. The COM Express module offers core speeds as fast as 2.26 GHz, six megabytes of more L2 cache, and 1066 MHz FSB. “Due to the smaller processor footprint, the 45-nanometer technologies are also the basis for developing a range of cost- and energy-saving embedded computer applications,” says Dirk Finstel, vice president of global research and engineering at Kontron. “The enhanced performance-per-watt from the 45-nanometer Intel Core 2 processor SP9300 enables system designers to improve system efficiency, including DDR3 memory support, fanless designs, improved EMC and MTBF, and longer battery life,” says Joe Jensen, general manager of the Intel Embedded Computing Division in Phoenix.
