Officials at L-3 Integrated Systems required a high-definition video data recorder for their work on the Air Force’s NC-2W intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) aircraft. They found their solution at Ampex Data Systems Corp. in Redwood City, Calif.

Ampex won a contract award to supply rugged Ampex miniR 700 airborne high-definition video data recorder systems to L-3. The recorder systems will support the Air Force’s NC-2W Project Liberty aircraft, designed to augment ISR assets used by the U.S. military and its coalition partners.

“The miniR 700 recorder is an integrated, multi-channel, high-definition video and digital data recorder,” describes Don Downing, Ampex business development manager. “The architecture of our miniR 700 solid-state recorder system enables it to collect and replay the full-motion video generated by the advanced L-3 WESCAM MX-15 True HD Sensor.”
