Officials from the French General Delegation for Armaments (DGA) sought to replace telemetry antenna systems at various tracking sites throughout France. They found their solution at the Malibu Division of Communications & Power Industries Inc. (CPI) in Palo Alto, Calif.

CPI won a four-year contract from the French DGA’s Centre d’Essais de Lancement de Missiles (CELM) to replace 19 telemetry antenna systems. Under the contract, CPI Malibu Division will design, manufacture, deliver, and install 3.1-meter, 4.3-meter, and 6.1-meter telemetry antenna systems at CELM’s various land-based and shipboard missile and aircraft tracking sites in France.

CPI won an initial $2.6 million order for five antennas to be delivered this calendar year. If all contract options are exercised, the contract will reach roughly $10 million.

CPI Malibu Division is teamed on this project with La Direction des Constructions Navales Services (DCNS), one of Europe’s companies for naval defense systems. DCNS is responsible for program management, site upgrades, installation, integration, and testing of the antenna systems.
